Prompt: Create book club posters for a book of your choice utilizing typography in different ways.
"Walden" by Henry David Thoreau is a transcendentalist work that chronicles Thoreau's experiment in simple living and self-sufficiency. Thoreau spent two years, two months, and two days in a small cabin near Walden Pond, reflecting on the essence of life and the pursuit of a meaningful existence. The design aims to reflect the somber atmosphere of Walden, creating a sense of bleakness through black branches set against a white backdrop, evoking the sensation of gazing into a desolate white sky.
"The Hero and the Outlaw" by Carol Pearson and Margaret Mark draws on the work of psychologist Carl Jung and mythologist Joseph Campbell. The book identifies 12 archetypes that serve as universal symbols in human consciousness. The book explores how these archetypes can be strategically employed by businesses and storytellers to create compelling narratives that resonate with consumers on a deep, emotional level. The design was created with the concept of the hero versus the outlaw, evident in the lighter hue at the top juxtaposed with the darker shade at the bottom, complemented by the mirrored depiction of the person at opposite sides.
"Zepheniah" is the of the Prophets in the Old Testament. The central theme of the book and the Lord's judgement on the earth and the restoration following. The design was created with following the theme of the destruction that transpires. The word Zepheniah is carved into small black rocks that are scattered. This symbolizes the ruin that occurs in the book. The rocks were placed on top of a white background which symbolizes the purification of the earth on judgment day.
"The Most Beautiful Walk in the World" by John Baxter is a history book, memoir, and travel guide that takes the reader on a series of walks through the city of Paris and highlights it's hidden treasures and romance. The design includes an enchanting image of Paris with the word "Beautiful" enhanced to look like misty clouds in the sky. The image was edited with a light sepia tone to embody the historic and romantic tones in the book.
